I am a professional engineer and digital media entrepreneur from Sindh, Pakistan. I am working as a Research Associate and Social Media Strategist at the Mehran University of Engineering Technology. I have also been carrying duties as coordinator of MUET Alumni Development Cell. I am the founding-organizer of TEDxMUET. Apart from that, I am part of various social and technical organizations.
I have a grip on various medical instruments, and software such as Adobe tools, MS Office, MATLAB and web development tools. Organizing various events, volunteering for social causes and chairing various technical bodies have enhanced my leadership and communication skills.
With all these expertise and skills, I am looking forward to serving back my community and become benefiting and befitting part of this society, by creating a sense of volunteerism, tolerance, creativity, and socialism in the masses. I am keen to motivate individuals to take part in social reforms and help build the world a better place.
Salman Abbasi is an engineer and digital media entrepreneur from Pakistan, known primarily for film-making, digital media activities, and community services.
Hailing from Bandhi a small town of Sindh province of Pakistan, Salman Abbasi has come a long way. In 2010, Salman moved from his hometown to capital city for the higher education, with the hard work and dedication, he became one of the few person from his community to get admission in one of the leading engineering university of the country, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology.
During his undergraduate studies at MUET, Salman participated in various curricular and co-curricular activities, which developed his soft skills. Such skills, led him to become the founding member and chair of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS), MUET Chapter, which is the world's largest international society of biomedical engineers. He remained executive member of various student bodies and organizations. He organized various social and technical events, served as a volunteer for different activities and societies, produced documentaries and co-authored a magazine. In 2017, He graduated from Mehran University of Engineering and Technology with a Biomedical Engineering degree.
Right after graduation, keeping in view the scenario of unemployment of Biomedical Engineers of Pakistan, Salman Abbasi launched a social platform to address the issues of Biomedical Engineers of Pakistan, entitled Pakistan Biomedical Engineers Association (PBMEA). On behalf of PBMEA, he wrote various articles in the leading newspapers of Pakistan, addressing the issues of Biomedical Engineers of Pakistan.
In 2018, Salman Abbasi ran a prolific elections campaign for Pakistan Engineering Council’s Governing Body in the summer of 2018. Being part of the election cell, he ran an awareness campaign among the engineers and motivated them to go and vote.
In early 2018, Salman Abbasi was appointed as Research Assistant at Mehran University of Engineering and Technology. Currently, He is performing academic and administrative responsibilities at MUET. He is part of the National Center of Robotics and Automation (NCRA) Lab, he is coordinator of the MUET Alumni Development Cell, he is also a member of Software Development Unit of the university. Apart from that, he is involved in various social, technical, and community engagement programs. He is also founding-organizer of TEDxMUET.
Recently, Salman Abbasi has started a ‘Digital Media Production Company’ startup to support and promote the local talent. This project is yet to be lunched officially. Another startup of Salman ”Sihat Barq” which is funded by UNDP & UNICEF is in the incubation at Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center.
Salman Abbasi is motivated to serve back to his community and become benefiting and befitting part of the society, by creating a sense of volunteerism, tolerance, creativity, and socialism in the masses. He is keen to motivate individuals to take part in social reforms and help build the world a better place.
